Hand Sanitiser Stations
2 hand sanitising stations now in the Tura Beach Shopping Centre
Dr Duncan Mackinnon, General Practitioner and Anaesthetist, was so concerned about the COVID19 virus and the impact the disease could have on our community he decided to do something practical about it. He was concerned that, with the high volume of people going to shopping centres and supermarkets, these areas posed a very high risk area for transmission of COVID19.
After some thought and discussions with Peter Bevitt they came up with a simple hand sanitiser unit that could be placed in shopping malls and supermarkets for people to sanitise their hands before entering these public places.
This resulted in support from service clubs in the area. The Rotary Clubs of Merimbula, Pambula and Bega, Lions Clubs, Bendigo Bank and Teen Clinic all decided to support and sponsor the sanitiser units as a community project. So far, 26 of the sanitiser units are in shopping centres and supermarkets from Bermagui to Eden. This is a great example of people working together for the benefit of the community of the Far South Coast of NSW.
